According to our sources at parliament who peeped at the letter penned by the clerk, Adolf Mwesige suspending the institute, the administration ‘learnt that the institute that was named after the former speaker Alitwala Rebecca Kadaga, was operating under illegalities and irregularities thus the suspension.

Our source quoted the Clerk’s letter reading, ”I have here by directed you to suspend expenditure of funds and activities of Kadaga Institute of Parliamentary studies until the sitting of a parliament commission expected in mid-October.”

In fact, to nail the matter harder, Clerk further informed the Institute’s Executive Director, Charles Bwine that he had learnt that the government’s money released to facilitate the institute’s activities is used in (anonymous) illegal activities.

It’s worth noting that the above institute was launched in February 2021 under the stewardship of former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga who was later ousted by the current speaker Jacob Oulanyah.

The above was after its establishment by an Act of Parliament as a semi-autonomous body with the objective of conducting courses for the exposition and enhancement of the knowledge, skills and experience of members and staff of the Parliamentary Commission and other legislatures, including local government councils.
