Mbarara: Just hours after sacking head coach Paul Nkata, Mbarara City has reappointed Brian Senyondo as Caretaker manager of the club.
The Ankole Lions on Sunday evening announced the sacking of Nkata on their social media pages, just over a month in charge.
“Head coach Nkata Paul, assistant coach Kasule Baker, and goalkeeping Coach Hamza have been sacked…,” read part of the statement on the club twitter page.
Under Nkata, who initially replaced Ssenyondo, the Ankole Lions have played seven league games, won once, lost four and drew the rest.
It should be noted that the Ankole Lions parted ways with Nkata on Sunday following dismal performance in the 21 days he has been in charge of the club.
Ssenyondo, who was in charge at the start of the season but was relieved of his duties after five games, has been reinstated as caretaker manager and will be on the bench as Mbarara City FC host Onduparaka FC on Tuesday.
Ssenyondo was suspended following a 2-2 draw away to Vipers, days after his side lost 3-2 to Express FC at Luzira.
He was acting head coach for two and half months at the club under the title of assistant coach before he was axed and sarcastically handed the Junior team role at the club.
Under Ssenyondo, the Ankole Lions finished third in the pre-season Pilsner Super Eight tournaments although he managed only one win in five league games.
His first task will be a home tie against Onduparaka on Tuesday, November 12.
The team has gone six games without a victory and was beaten 3-0 on Saturday by Bul at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe to leave them one point above the drop but on the same number of points with 14th placed-Bright Stars.
