Kampala: The latest we are receiving from the Entebbe Airport is that Senegalese singer and investor, Aliaune Thiam Badara aka Akon has arrived into Uganda.

Arriving at the airport, the singer was welcomed by Abbey Walusimbi, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, fellow musician and tourism ambassador, Eddie Kenzo among other government officials.

According to Isaac Kigozi, the Trade and Investment officer in the office of the president, the singer’s visit will be of great benefit to Uganda.

“This is evident in all the projects he has invested in on the continent including, but not limited to the Afro-futuristic Akon City in Senegal and mining business in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC),” Kigozi said.

What one would expect from this singer’s visit to Uganda is transforming the country through industrialization noting that in 2018, Akon announced plans to establish a $6 billion futuristic Pan-African smart city in Senegal dubbed “Akon City”.

Supported by the Senegalese government, the 800-hectare solar-powered city will feature shopping malls music studios, tourist resorts among other attractions.

Akon will meet the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubaje before meeting President Museveni before visiting a number of tourism sites and religious institutions during his stay in Uganda.

Akon comes after weeks back his wife Rozina Neguse was in Uganda.

While here, she met with President Yoweri Museveni and expressed her interest in transforming the Ugandan entertainment industry by announcing an investment package worth millions of dollars.

It was indeed confirmed that the CEO of Zanar Entertainment, Entreeg Records & Entreeg Entertainment Group revealed that she will splash $12 million for the Ugandan entertainment industry over a period of five years to make the Banana republic Africa’s Hollywood.

And then Rozina was set to return to the Pearl of Africa with her singing superstar husband Akon in a few days which has finally happened today.

According to our sources, Akon and Rozina plan to construct a state-of-the-art resort in Jinja and introduce an annual event -World Carnival- in which artists are selected all over the world to perform in Uganda for one week. All products sold at the event must be locally manufactured.

Upon meeting the President, Rozina described Museveni as a genius leader, a walking library adding that Ugandans are extremely lucky to have a leader equipped with tons of knowledge.

“I was pleased to meet such an honorable, genius leader and a walking library. He called me a daughter and gave me a name, Estella Ihangwe. It was amazing to be in the presence of such a knowledgeable leader. I have met several leaders, but President Museveni is exceptionally knowledgeable. You guys are lucky to have such a leader. Seriously, you won’t realize it until he is no longer here,” Rozina said while wondering why a clique of foreigners, particularly the Americans are portraying the country as a war zone yet Uganda is at peace.
