FINAL - 2024 PLE STATEMENT OF RELEASE - 2The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has on Thursday officially released the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s education sector. The release event was presided over by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, at State House Nakasero. ple results 2024
National Performance Overview:
Total Candidates: 798,771 candidates registered for the 2024 PLE, a 6.6% increase from the 749,254 registered in 2023.
Gender Distribution: 419,357 females and 379,414 males participated in the examinations.
Special Needs Candidates: 3,295 candidates with special needs sat for the exams, with 1,677 females and 1,618 males.
Performance Highlights:
UNEB Executive Director, Dan N. Odongo, reported an improvement in overall performance compared to the previous year. The results indicate a positive trend in primary education outcomes across the country.
In her address, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni emphasized the importance of embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment. She commended the efforts of educators, parents, and students in achieving these commendable results and encouraged continued dedication to improving education standards nationwide.
Accessing the Results:
SMS Service: Parents and students can retrieve individual results by sending an SMS with the format `PLE<space>Index Number` to 6600. For example: `PLE 00123/356` to 6600.
School Portals: Schools can access their results via the UNEB online portal.
Printed Copies: Hard copies will be available for pickup by District, City, and Municipal Inspectors of Schools.
Inmates:
At the Uganda Government Upper Prison School in Luzira, 71 candidates were registered for the 2024 PLE, an increase from 69 in 2023. Out of the 59 candidates who sat for the examination:
4 passed in Division 1
36 obtained Division 2
13 obtained Division 3
6 obtained Division 4
None were ungraded
Unfortunately, 12 candidates did not sit for the examination. This performance underscores the potential for academic achievement within correctional facilities, highlighting the transformative power of education.
The 2024 PLE results reflect a positive trajectory in Uganda’s primary education sector. The increase in candidate registration and improved performance are testaments to the collaborative efforts of the government, educators, parents, and students.
