As schools throughout the nation get ready to open for the new academic year 2023, the head of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Daniel Odongo has disclosed that the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will be released next week on a day yet to be announced.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Education Committee Odongo, said the marking of the PLE and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) tests ended before Christmas and UCE marking has also been to an end.
According to Odongo, 832,839 candidates sat for the PLE exam.
”We’re set to release them next week, and the internal examinations security committee is meeting today to review the results for candidates suspected of engaging in malpractices. Before exam results are made public, the committee will decide which results to withhold,” said Odongo on Tuesday.
Addressing the media last month, UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule said board contracted about 6,000 examiners for PLE and 8,500 for UCE, to mark over 116 papers.
