Police Arrest 7 Boda-Boda Thieves In Kampala

By Gad Masereka

Police’s Flying Squad Unit operatives have Tuesday arrested seven men suspected to have stolen a motorcycle from Ndeeba, in Kampala.

Two of the suspects were found fighting over the same motorcycle while the five were found lying on the shores of Kabaka’s lake in Kayanja zone, Rubaga division.

Among the arrested is a one Innocent alias Masada, and another man who was only identified as Tata Benja, plus their five accomplices.

After arrest the suspects were put in a Noah van registration number UAK 977K which drove them to a yet to be identified location while being escorted by a Premio car registration number UBB 446E.

Police detectives established that the motorcycle registration number UDP 912E was on Monday stolen from Ndeba boda-boda stage by Tata Benja, who handed it over to Innocent Masada to take care of it as he (Tata Benja) planned how to sell it.

It is said that in the afternoon before they were arrested, Tata Benja went to Masada and started hitting him with a big stone on the head, while accusing him of exposing his stolen motorcycle. During that fight however security operatives came in to separate them, only to realise that they were the suspects they had been hunting for.

One of the boda-boda riders at Kayanja stage who only identified himself as Mutyaba told TheSpy Uganda that the same security operatives had earlier on gone to the stage and asked Tata Benja about the motorcycle but he had denied knowing anything about it

Following the arrest, residents of Ndeeba thanked the police for the operation, saying it will help to reduce the high rate of criminality in their area.
