Police Arrest 8, Hunt More Suspects Over Imam Mutumba’s Brutal Murder

The Police  in Eastern Uganda are doing everything possible to arrest people suspected to have been behind the murder of Sheikh Masuudi Mutumba, the Imam of Majid  Noor lwemba, in Bugiri district, who was gunned down last week.

Sources reveal that so far the police in Bugiri have in custody eight people who were arrested in connection  Sheikh Mutumba’s murder.

The suspects includeSulaiman Konta, Amos Kaaja, Charles Mwondha, Christopher Mwondha and Ali Mugoya .

Police revealed that Mutumba was gunned down at his home on Friday night February 14, at around 9:00pm by a man who was dressed on a black overall coat.

The assassin fled shortly after the committing the murder and the police have since launched a hunt for him.

The Regional Police Commander Busoga East, John Katungwensi, said that “Security personnel also recovered vital clues that will help track down the people responsible for the murder.”

Katungwensi however appealed to locals with information that could help track down the people responsible for the murder to volunteer it to police or local council officials secretly.

He promised that the police will not stop at anything to ensure that they arrest the killers,  who he said could be residents of the area.
