Police over the weekend arrested four witch doctors on allegations of killing a number of human beings for ritual sacrifices.
The four arrested have been identified as Junior Kibuuka, Fred Kiiza Semanda,Wamala Muhammed and Owen Sebuyungo who are all currently being detained at Nagalama Police Station as investigations continue.
Their arrest was caused by a relative of late Mirembe Zakaria’s relative who reported a case of disappearance of their daughter at Nagalama police station.
The Divisional Police Commander for Nagalama police station ASP Jesca Naawe told TheSpy reporter that they obtained intelligence information that Mirembe Zakaria (Deceased) had secured an appointment through phone call with one Owen Sebuyungo a 24 year old witchdoctor.
In his statement filed at police, Sebuyungo narrated that Mirembe visited his shrine for help since she had been possessed by evil spirits (empewo).
It’s alleged that Sebuyungo then contacted his spiritual consultant, a renowned witch doctor Mohammed Wamala alias Bob who enticed him into murdering the victim after convincing him (Sebuyungo) that he would immerse huge riches and double his wealth if he cut off the head of a female being.
Following leads, Nagalama Police started investigations leading to the arrest of a syndicate of witch doctors who had participated in the heinous act.
Upon thorough questioning the four confessed to having welcomed Mirembe at the shrine, waited for dawn, murdered her by cutting off and buried her head in the shrine.
The suspects accepted to cooperate, leading police to the shrine where Zakaria had been buried. Shockingly, five other bodies buried in rather disturbing positions were exhumed.
One of the suspects, a one Wamala Muhammed told police that he had ferried over eight females from his home in Ganda Nansana, murdered and buried them at this shrine located in Ntunda Kayunga.
Police has also recovered a number of items that include spears and pots filled with fresh blood suspected to be human blood.
Blood samples have been picked, taken to Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) while the recovered bodies that had decomposed beyond recognition have been taken to Mulago Hospital for DNA test so that the relatives can identify them.
“The search is still going on, we suspect more bodies must still be buried under the remaining five shrines,”ASP Naawe said. Police has since cordoned off the area as the search for more bodies is still on going.
