Police Arrests Journalist Kagolo’s Assassinator, Explains Cause Of Shooting

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has finally unearthed the circumstances under which the shooting took place last evening leaving Robert Kagolo, a former president of Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) and A government mouth piece, UBC staff dead.

According to Asp Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy PRO KMP, the shooting took place at Bugembejembe village in Wakiso, on 29.04.2021 at around 8pm.

It is alleged that while Robert Kagolo was returning from the village after the brother’s burial, he hurriedly entered and knocked on the gate of late’s home which was being guarded by LDU personnel after he suspected that some people were following him.

Luke says that it is from that background that a disagreement between him and two LDU personnel who were guarding the home started. “Unfortunately, the disagreement led to a shooting of which the circumstances are being investigated. The victim was later rushed to ST. Joseph Hospital Wakiso where he succumbed to the injuries sustained,”Luke added. (Ambien)

According to Luke, the shooter has been identified as Mamuli Rashid.

”Upon getting the information, a joint team of Police and LDU command responded to the scene and managed to arrest Rashid and his colleague,” said Police.

Meanwhile, TheSpy Uganda has learnt that Kagolo’s body will soon be conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for postmortem.

”Investigations into the matter are ongoing and you will be updated accordingly,” added Police. RiP Kagolo.
