The Police in Bunyangabu district and Rwenzori region at large have been asked to restore a good public image among local communities.

During his visit to Bunyangabu district on Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, Police Political Commissar AIGP Asan Kasingye said the public is slowly losing confidence in the Police’s ability to keep law and order.

He said that “Many citizens have resorted to other means of keeping law and order without necessarily reporting to Police for fear of their cases being mishandled.”

AIGP Kasingye tasked the Criminal Investigations Department of Bunyangabu District to avoid scenarios of delaying investigations which on several occasions discourages the public from working closely with Police.

According to SP Frantile Lwamusayi, the DPC Bunyangabu District, the police are working tirelessly to endeavor that the community of Bunyangabu regains trust in the institution.

He also noted that the security of Bunyangabu is currently in a stable condition.

Hon. John Manume, the Vice Chairperson LCV Bunyangabu District, thanked the Police for their efforts to curb down armed robberies that had become a big security threat to people in the district.
