Investigations into the shooting of Rwandan nationals Florence Maya Kamikazi aka Merina and city moneylender Joshua Nteireho Ruhegyera have led to the of a Uganda Police Force Constable suspected to have ivolved in the murder.
Constable Davis Taremwa, attached to the counter-terrorism Unit, was arrested at Hidden Treasure Hotel, Entebbe, by Internal Security Organisation (ISO) operatives.
Fred Enaga, the Police Spokesperson, said that
“Davis Taremwa, attached to the counter-terrorism unit, was arrested at Hidden Treasure Hotel, Entebbe by security operatives.”
However, he declined to divulge details of the arrest.
Kamikazi and Ruhegyera were shot dead along the Entebbe Expressway at Nambigirwa Bridge, towards Mpala, Katabi Town Council.
They were travelling in a black Prado TV registration number UAW 534B heading to Entebbe.
Security operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle No. UG POL56-3100699022697 with 27 rounds of live ammunition. Three empty cartridges were also recovered.
One Counter-Terrorism Uganda Police cap and a magazine porch were recovered from the vehicle.
However, the police are still conducting investigations into the double murder to establish the motive behind the gruesome attack and to arrest all the culprits who engaged in the murder.
Meanwhile pictures of Merina with Mark Rugenza, the owner of Gabz Lounge in Mbarara have emerged, further linking the deceased to the businessman.
Merina, it has emerged, was romantically involved with Rugenza, whom it has emerged, is married to another woman.
It has also emerged that prior to being shot dead, Ruhegyera has realised that there was a strange car trailing him and he had even consulted a friend, asking for backup, although the assailants still managed to finish him off.
