KAMPALA, Uganda: His holiness Pope Francis has appointed a new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, who will replace Archbishop August Michael Blume,  who has been the head of the Vatican Embassy in Uganda.
The Vatican made the changes public in a statement released to the Catholic Media in Uganda, titled; Re: Pope Francis Appoints New Apostolic Nuncio To Uganda; According to the Vatican statement, Pope Francis appointed His Excellency, the Most Rev. Luigi Bianco, the Titular Archbishop of Falerone, as the new Apostolic Nuncio in Uganda. Until his appointment as Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, His Excellency, Rev. Luigi Bianco has been the Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia and Djibouti and Apostolic Delegate to Somalia.
The New Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda has a doctorate in Canon Law. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy see on July 1st, 1989, having served in different Nunciatures in Italy, Egypt, Argentina, Croatia, and Spain. Apart from Italian, he is fluent in Spanish, French and English.
