Zimbabwe president his excellence Emmerson Mnangagwa has been invited by President Yoweri Museveni as Special Guest at this year’s Independence day celebrations, which will be held on October 9, 2019 in Sironko district.
The development was revealed by minister for presidency Ms Easter Mbayo, who said that President Museveni had invited Mr. Mnangagwa as a special guest at the celebrations that will be held on the theme “Consolidation of National Unity, Security, Freedom, and Prosperity”.
Mbayo said “The President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the chief guest and has invited another Special Guest, his Excellence Emmerson Mnangagwa, the President of Zimbabwe, to grace the occasion,”
She also noted that due to government intervention, Uganda has registered an estimation of 6.3% economic growth in the financial year 2019/2020 which rose from 6.1% from 2017/2018 and that since it’s government policy to ensure equality in all districts, the event is going to be celebrated in Sironko district,
It should be remembered that Museveni had a two day visit to Zimbabwe in April this year during which he requested that Uganda and the southern Africa country should enable their people stand on their own feet as one of the ten strategic bottlenecks is market integration,
Museveni noted that Zimbabwe and Southern Africa at large have got a good potential to trade with East Africa and empower their people economically, since there are plans for standard gauge railway then it would simultaneously promote trade between East Africa and Southern Africa.
