Kampala: His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Saturday flagged off 25 more cars donated to the National Response Fund to COVID-19 by Ugandans, both private and government companies to fight COVID-19 Pandemic.
At an event that took place at Kololo independence grounds, the President was briefed about plans to build reception centers at border posts for travelers to be tested and also construct a blood bank for Soroti Hospital as away of reducing death rates resulting from shortage of blood.
The donated vehicles will be distributed in various government hospitals country wide to help Ministry of Healthy in executing its mandate during COVID-19 critical time.
“I want to build a crisis response fleet for the Ministry of Health. I won’t allow these vehicles to be misused by officials just by driving around. (https://davidlawrencecenters.org) We want 1350 cars so that each district gets about 10,” Mr. Museveni said.
President applauded companies and other entities that have come to government’s help in donating the vehicles and any other form of assistance that he said will greatly help in the fight against the deadly virus.
He added that more vehicles are needed to ensure government forms a crisis response fleet for the Ministry of Health that would come in handy in times like the current pandemic.
