President Yoweri Museveni has hailed athlete Joshua Cheptgei for winning gold in the IAAF world athletics championship.

Cheptegei scooped gold after winning the men’s 10, 000 meters race in Doha, Qatar.
In his congratulatory message to Cheptegei Museveni wrote thus on Twitter “

Congratulations to @joshuacheptege1 for winning Gold in the men’s 10,000m final at the #IAAFDoha2019 championships. Once again, you have hoisted the Uganda flag high. We are proud of you!”

Cheptei becomes the second Ugandan to win gold in the IAA after Halima Nakayi, who won a gold medal in the women’s 800 race last week.

Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei is a Ugandan long-distance runner. In 2017 he became the Silver medallist in the 10000 m run at the World championship in London. In 2018 he set a world record for the 15 km road race and became the World Cross Country champion in 2019.
