His excellence president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is on his way to Uganda after completing his four-day working visit in China.
President set off from China this morning aboard his Gulf Stream presidential jet and shortly after takeoff, he tweeted thus; “After a four-day working visit to China, I have left to return home. I thank President Xi Jinping for the invitation. I am confident our relations with our Chinese brothers and sisters can only get stronger, especially economically and socially.”
However, prior to setting off, Museveni had made a pilgrimage during which he visited monuments of the Great Chinese leader Mao Zedong. Museveni wrote thus in Mao’s honour; “Today, I undertook a historic and revolutionary pilgrimage to the birthplace of China’s Founding Father, Chairman Mao Zedong, in Shaoshan Village of Hunan Province. The pilgrimage began at my residence, the Rongyuan Hotel, which was Chairman Mao’s work station while he was in Changsha, Hunan. In Shaoshan, I visited the Mao Zedong Statute Square, paying my respects before taking a tour of the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall that showcases his life and times. I also toured the humble home in which Mao was raised and later the Orange Island where a large statute of Chairman Mao as a young man stands majestically in the sky.”
He also wrote a message in the Visitors’ book in which he honoured Chairman Mao and all the other great leaders that helped him to succeed in the China Revolution. The president is expected to touch down at Entebbe Airport on Saturday morning.
