President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the 1st lady Janet Museveni on Saturday hosted the recently crowned Miss World-Africa Quiin Abenakyo and her family to a sumptuous dinner at their country home in Rwakitura,Kiruhuura District.
Museveni also pledged to support the queen and the Miss Uganda Foundation.
It must remembered that Abenakyo almost failed to travel to China to take part in the Miss World competition due to lack of funds after the whole state with its line ministry abandoned her to her family and the Miss World foundation who fought tooth and nail to enable her jump on the plane at the last minute. Unlike other contestants that she faced in China, Abenakyo had no accompaniment or a manager to travel with, because they simply couldn’t afford the costs of catering for two people.
This more affected her psychologically to the extent that she jumped on the plane while crying. Â
Below is president’s message…
“First Lady Janet and I hosted Miss Uganda and also recently-crowned Miss World Africa, Quiin Abenakyo, and her family to dinner last evening at our country home in Rwakitura.
When she recently paid a courtesy call on me at State House, Entebbe, I promised to host her to this dinner. Once again I congratulate her upon being crowned Miss World Africa and hoisting the Uganda flag high.
When we met in Entebbe, I advised Abenakyo to keep her hair natural. I am glad she heeded the advice and re-asserted her African identity. God beautifully created Africans, there is no need to add or subtract anything.
Like I indicated, the government will support the Miss Uganda Foundation and also support Abenakyo in her activities. I wish her success in her reign as Miss Uganda and Miss World Africa. more photos courtesy below..
