President Museveni Meets Born-Again Pastors, Assures To Discuss Proposal On Lokodo’s Bill

Kampala: President Yoweri Museveni has met Born-Again Pastors and evangelists in Kampala. This followed a press release issued by Statehouse on Sunday September 22, 2019, inviting them to discuss the Bill Minister Simon Lokodo is intending to present barring Pastors without formal training from preaching.

On Monday September 23, His Excellence met these men of God at Lugogo Cricket Oval where he promised to invite them once again with Ethics and Integrity Minister Fr. Simon Lokodo to gently discuss the Bill Lokodo is intending to present.

Museveni requested pastors to help Government in developing their country by fighting poverty and be exemplary to Christians. He advised them to get involved in money-making ventures and also help in universal uplifting of people from poverty.

Museveni added that he had already  identified seven money making sectors where pastors can venture in to earn a living. These include; fishing, zero grazing, poultry, fruit growing, coffee growing, growing food crops such as bananas. He further reminded them not to grow sugarcane, maize and cotton unless on a large scale.

Museveni further said, some of his friends in 1986 had misled him not to associate with church leaders who are still operating in grass thatched houses and biwempe but after he followed the Biblical knowledge he had acquired in 1967, “if they are not against us, then they are with us,” it gave him courage to associate with all churches no matter how poor or rich they are.

Robert Kayanja of Miracle Center Lubaga asked the President to intervene after many followers complained against the Bill saying that Jesus Christ alone preached the gospel with no qualifications and saved many.

Over 50,000 pastors were invited from all Districts of Uganda by Pastor Robert Kayanja and Bishop Joshua Lwere, who is the General overseer of the National Fellowship of Born Again Pentecostal Churches of Uganda (NFBPC) meaning that he leads Born-Agains with Serwadda who is also calling him self the Presiding Apostle of Born Again Faith Churches which some pastors complain about saying that the only presiding apostle they know is Jesus Christ who presides over Christians in heaven not on earth.

Among the pastors who were present is Joseph Sserwadda CEO Kayiwa International University (Pastor Simeon Kayiwa), Robert Kayanja and many more.
