President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to address the nation on Monday May 18, 2020 as the days of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown near expiration on May 21.
According to Linda Nabusayi, of the Presidential Press Unit (PPU), His Excellency Museveni will deliver a televised address at 8:00Pm on Monday evening, during which he will brief Ugandans on the way forward in regard to the fight against COVID-19.
As if to assure the nation about this Presidential Address, which will be the 14th ever since COVID-19 broke out in Uganda, Nabusayi tweeted thus; “@KagutaMuseveni will tomorrow May 18, address the nation on #COVID19UG update at 8pm on all TV and radio stations. Please tune in.”
However,
key among the issues that Ugandans
expect President Museveni to talk about is when government plans to lift the
COVID-19 lockdown and curfew, plus the measures to be undertaken by government to
revive Uganda’s economy, which was adversely impacted by the pandemic.
As
per statistics from the Ministry of Health, by the end on Sunday May 17, 2020, Uganda
still had 227 registered cases of COVID-19 with 63 recoveries.
