The President of the Republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta on Sunday visited Bukalasi Sub County in Bududa District to console the survivors of the catastrophic mudslides that claimed many lives on Thursday after heavy downpour.
The president was accompanied by other government officials including the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness Mr Hillary Onek and others.
On Sunday morning, government donated relief items which included food and other items such as tents, blankets, jerrycans, saucepans, basins, plates, mosquito nets, cups among others to the victims on.
 According to the district chairperson, Wilson Watira, the relief items were distributed to over 139 affected families with a population of over 695 people.
It should be noted that over 42 bodies have been recovered so far and a big number is still missing as the search by both residents and government continues.
