Kampala: People Power pressure group leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, who is the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, has been nominated as Politician of the Year in 2019, by Young African Leaders Summit (YALS.
At the Young African Leaders Summit (YALS), a forum which is an initiative of The Young Politicians and Leaders Network, a global movement of young change agents dedicated to train its cohort to take up leadership roles to influence the future of Africa and the world at large, decided to nominate Bobi Wine as ‘Male Politician of the Year’.
The ghetto president Bobi Wine is nominated with Faozey Nurudeen (Nigeria), Julius Karl D. Fieve (Ghana), Lengai Ole Sabaya (Tanzania), Yongama Ludwe Zigebe (South Africa) and Nwosu Franklyn Chiedozie (Nigeria).
The awards ceremony shall be held in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, where the Summit will take place on November 22-23 with the theme “The role of the African youth, Young Business Leaders and Enterprenuers”
Outstanding African Youth figures who have excelled in various fields will be awarded and honoured on this event which is described as the first-ever largest continental youth gathering, expected to attract a number of delegates and policy makers,government officials, members of the diplomatic corp, international agency representatives, entrepreneurs, emerging youth and student leaders, among others to collate ideas from the continent’s finest figures to aggregate them into relevant themes able to shape policy on the continent
Bobi Wine has in the past received several award which include the Pan African Pyramid Global Award as African Musical Activist in 2017, Freedom Award in Tanzania, Human Rights award in Chicago, Dear Life Time Achievements award in USA, among others.
