Following presidential directive of closing schools and higher institutions of learning for 42 days due to escalating COVID-19 cases, Entebbe based-Nkumba University has called off it’s physical learning and instituted need program for the continuity of activities.
According to the University statement seen by TheSpy Uganda, all academic activities examinations of end of August 2020 and February 2021 Semesters shall be done online effective 21 June, 2021.
The University has also resolved that practical and computational examinations shall be done physically upon re-opening of Universities.
As a result of online learning therefore, the University management says all examinations shall be submitted through the University E-learning systems.
“To facilitate ONLINE Assessment, all Academic Staff are required to set Open Book Online Standard Examinations and submit them to the respective Deans for vetting by Monday 14thJune, 2021.
“All Examinations that will be vetted and approved will be uploaded on the e-learning system by the concerned Lecturers. Therefore, all Academic Stall MUST attend trainings on the use of ODeL/Online Platforms from Wednesday9th June, 2021,” partially reads University statement.
The university also says that in order to meet the 30% staff presence at campus, all staff will work from home unless called upon to execute various tasks that require physical presence.
“The commencement of the August 2021 Semester remains scheduled, to be run online or as may be guided by Government,” adds the statement.
