Kampala: Following the Electoral Commission “scientific’ General Elections Road Map, Next Media Services, the owners of NBS Television have today re-echoed its position in the Ugandan TV terrain by re-launching the “Political Command Center” that will give live coverage of the 2021 General Elections at a ‘360 degrees’.
The unveiling event was televised live from Protea Hotel Naguru this morning, which was attended mainly by the Television’s managers and a few staff members, as a norm for social distancing. The fast growing Television’s management revealed that they were partnering with over 30 radio stations country wide that will be delivering daily spot-checks across the country.
On his part, Joseph Kigozi, the Next Media Services’ Chief Strategy Officer, said the station had also committed of availing all its resources, both human and technology, to ensure its viewers are updated with all the current information nation wide.
“The Electoral Commission’s position on scientific elections is well-known to all of us by now and we have quickly adapted to its needs at NBS Television; all candidates, regardless of their political affiliations or any other divides, shall be catered for,” said Joseph Kigozi.
Joyce Bagala, the Next Media Services Head of News and Current Affairs, said her team was more ready than before to deliver most researched, up to-date news for the good of their viewers. “By now, our viewers already know how much we value you and it won’t be any less with this. We are going to, just like we did with an example of COVID-19 coverage, adjust our programming to ensure you are updated,” she said.
Joyce added that from Monday, June 27, they are to unveil a new property that would g0 to their viewers daily at midday with all the latest on the elections from across the country along with 4:30pm and 8:30pm special bulletins.
Among the head of the political road map coverage reporters include ‘prodigal son’ senior political reporter, Joseph Sabiti, who rejoined NBS TV last week, and will be marking his grand return to the general elections frontline coverage, following his short sabbatical ‘leave’. Sabiti will be joined along with a cast of personnel in a mix of both youth and experienced staff.
NBS Television has also confirmed that through its fully-fledged research department spearheaded by the award winning investigative journalist reporter Solomon Serwanja, will conduct opinion polls in the central region along with selected hotspots across the country both online and on ground.
It should be remembered that NBS has been rated to be Uganda’s current number one brand Television after covering a couple of master events that include the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda, 2016 general elections, the Pope’s visit among others.
