Prominent Coffee Dealer Murdered, Robbed Shs60m

Sheema: A renowned businessman in Sheema district who was dealing in coffee was brutally murdered by unknown people on Wednesday night, who dumped his corpse a few kilometers outside Kabwohe town along the Kabwohe –Mbarara Road, before fleeing with over Shs60.

Emmy Mucunguzu, a resident of Kabwohe B, Kakunyu ward in Kabwohe –Itendero Municipality disappeared on Wednesday night but his body was recovered on Thursday afternoon by locals, who quickly informed the police.

Locals told police that Mucunguzu went missing on Wednesday night on his way home from his coffee factory and wasn’t seen again until his body was recovered.

Currently the police in Sheema are investigating circumstances surrounding his murder and if  he was robbed of any money or property.

A close family member told SpyUganda that Mucunguzu was carrying approximately Shs60 million when he left the factory.  It is suspected that he could have been attacked by assailants because of the money. Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, said preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was waylaid and whisked away by people who were traveling in a white Toyota Premio car.  

He says they have commenced investigations to find the killers and will be brought to book as soon as they are arrested. Meanwhile, Mucunguzi’s body was  transferred to Mbarara Referral Hospital mortuary  for postmortem report, after which it will be handed to relatives for proper burial.
