MUKONO, Uganda; Not all is rosy for ‘fish’ dealer and rally ace Champion Ponsiano Lwakataka.
The latest we can reveal is that Lwakataka is currently languishing in jail for alleged malicious damage to property and threatening violence. Lwakataka was remanded to Kawuga prison on Tuesday by Mukono Magistrates’ Court for allegedly destroying property and threatening to shoot a security guard. Lwakataka’s troubles started when he and others still at large destroyed a building and perimeter wall belonging to a one Bukenya, a city businessman.
The two are fighting over a piece of land in Kiwanga, Lwanda, Goma division, Mukono district. Lwakataka claims to own the land under contest, while Bukenya asserts that he bought it from the original owners. Lwakataka is accused of destroying property and all developments done by Bukenya on the said land. A guard at the contested land identified as Jackson Baguma claims that Lwakataka threatened to shoot him with a pistol that he had in his possession.
Lwakataka was apprehended after Bukenya alerted police. He was arrested on Monday, taken to court on Tuesday and taken to Mukono court where he was charged with malicious damage to property, criminal trespass,issuing death threats and later remanded to Kawuga Prison.
