Rare Among Greedy Africa Leaders: Zimbabwe’s Mnangagwa Hands Power To VP, Goes On Annual Leave

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has officially started his annual leave of three weeks.

This is according to the Chief Secretary to President Dr. Misheck Sibanda.

During the period, the Vice President General (Rtd) Dr. C.G.D.N Chiwenga will be the Acting President.

“His Excellency the President Dr. E.D Mnangagwa started his annual vacation yesterday January 13, 2022. His vacation which runs until February 5, 2022, will be spent in the country,” the statement said on Friday.

Mnangagwa won the 2018 elections by gaining 50.8 per cent of votes with all the 10 provinces declared, as his opposition leader Nelson Chamisa gained 44.3 per cent.
