Kamwokya based Record Television Network has joined Pan-African pyramid, HALEA-Uganda, Britania and office of the prime minister in the collection of relief aide for Rwamwanja refugees which will be delivered this X-mas on 22nd Dec 2018.
The project is organized by The Pan-African Pyramid in conjunction with the office of the prime minister (department of disaster and refugees), dubbed ‘X-Mas with the Refugees’. It’s done every X-mas season to different refugee camps with an aims of sharing with the refugees in the happy moments that x-mas season comes with to families.
“We collect relief aide such as clothes, shoes, food, house hold items, medicare, mattresses etc for refugees to also enjoy Christmas festive seasons which we deliver before X-Mas. We also spend a day with the refugees fetching for them water, playing games with them as a way of showing them that we’re one and the same as Pan-Africanists, only divided by artificial geographical boundaries,” PAP’s founding Speaker/Chairman Andrew Irumba told this reporter on phone on Monday when asked for a comment.
PAP’s previous visits to refugee camps include Kiryandongo and Bidi Bidi (Yumbe District) refugee settlement camps in 2016 and 2017 respectively. This year they intend to visit Rwamwanja refugee settlement camp in Kamwenge District.
Now Record TV has offered free airtime in advertising the project as away of celebrating the season and giving back to the community.
According to the MoU signed by Andrew Irumba and the record TV MD Mr.Motsoeneng Ezekiel, the station has also pledged to cover the entire collection and distribution exercise.
“Our crew will also move with you to the camps on 22 Dec and cover the entire event,” confirmed Mr.Ezekiel at the signing ceremony at their offices at Kamwokya.
