The Uganda Police Force has issued traffic advisories in anticipation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Summit scheduled at Speke Resort Munyonyo. SP Kananura Michael, the Community Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer at the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, stated that certain roads will be closed to ensure secure and smooth access for dignitaries and delegates.
Key traffic diversions include:
Munyonyo Roundabout: A security checkpoint will screen all vehicles, and non-summit traffic will be diverted to Salama Road and Buziga Road.
Mpala: Traffic will be diverted to the Entebbe Highway, with the expressway reserved exclusively for summit delegates.
Kisubi: Vehicles will be redirected to Nakawuka Road for access to Kampala to ease congestion along Entebbe Road.
Kajansi Flyover: Motorists will be diverted from accessing Munyonyo or the expressway and directed towards Lugala, Zana, and the city centre.
Serena-Kigo and Mutungo-Kitiko Traffic Lights: Diversions will be enforced at these junctions with limited public access.
Northern Bypass: Diversions will occur at the Busega Flyover and Sentema, Nansana and Busega interchanges, with traffic police holding flow at 50-meter distances from these points.
SP Kananura emphasized that no motorcycles will be permitted to access Kajansi, Munyonyo, or the summit venue, urging bodaboda riders to seek alternative routes.
Travellers using Entebbe International Airport are advised to plan their journeys well in advance to avoid delays caused by the diversions.
Speke Resort Munyonyo, the summit venue, is a premier luxury resort situated on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kampala, Uganda. Established in 2007, the resort offers 335 rooms, including 104 suites, and features amenities such as an Olympic-size swimming pool, multiple restaurants, an equestrian center, and a marina.
