Kasese: Jubilation and excitement filled the air as Rwenzori East Region FC emerged victorious in a friendly match against Rwenzori TV, winning 3-0 at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese Municipality. The match, which kicked off at approximately 11:00 AM on Tuesday, 25th February 2025, attracted hundreds of football fans from across the region, making it a thrilling event for all in attendance.
The game was graced by several dignitaries, including the Kasese District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Lt. JB Walusimbi, the District Speaker, District Local Government Workers, residents from Nyakasanga Lower, Majengo, Saluti, senior police officers, and UPDF officers stationed in the region.
The match saw Rwenzori East Region FC dominate from start to finish, with Police Constable Omutuju Bilali, PC Wamboga Jackson, and SP Nyanzi Dennis each scoring one goal. The highlight of the game came when Regional Police Commander SSP Odoch Dennis, wearing shirt No. 4, delivered a brilliant assist to SP Nyanzi Dennis Kasibante, leading to a landslide victory for Rwenzori East Region FC.
Commenting on the impressive performance, SSP Muhumuza Alex, who played as No. 2, expressed confidence in Rwenzori East Region FC’s prospects for the upcoming IGP Cup Tournament 2nd Edition. “I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Rwenzori East Region FC will win the IGP Cup Tournament, given their overwhelming record of winning several matches, both in Kasese and beyond,” he said.
The victory has sparked renewed excitement for the region’s football community as they look forward to the upcoming IGP Cup Tournament. With such strong performances in friendly matches, the region’s team has built high expectations for their future successes.
