Kampala: The leadership of South Sudan National Movement for Change/Army (SSNMC/A), one of the armed oppositions and member of South Sudan Opposition Alliance, confirmed that its Chief of Staff, General Abraham Wana Yoane has succumbed to injuries of an attack they believe was an organized assassination plan.

The leadership of SSNMC/A, which is led by the former governor of Western Equatoria State, Hon. Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro, condemned the alleged assassination of its chief of Staff in neighbouring Uganda.
According to a statement extended to local media, the deceased was attacked on April 20th, badly beaten and left unconscious, and two days later succumbed to injuries.
“Just came across news that some people and possibly Junubin assaulted and beat former SPLA commander and Yei River State Deputy Governor Abraham Wana (Wani) Yoane in his house in Kampala yesterday badly to grave level. He was found beaten badly and unconscious until he had to undergo a major (craniotomy) surgery bcoz he had internal bleeding in the head.” Peter Lo wrote on his social media page.

“General Abraham succumbed to his injuries that was inflicted by thugs of Juba and died today 22nd April 2021 in Kampala, Uganda,” part of a statement from the SSNMC/A reads.
According to the leadership of SSNMC/A, General Abraham Wana was a “decorated and renowned freedom fighter” who believed in freedom and equality.

SSNMC/A blames the government of president Kiir and his national security for the death of their leader.
“The assassination of Gen. Abraham bears the hallmarks of Juba regime and its brutal national security are the prime suspects. SSNMC/A strongly condemned this barbaric and cowardly act by the elements of the Juba regime,” the group said in their statement.

The SSNMC/A leadership expressed its sympathy and extended its condolences to the movement, immediate family members of the deceased and friends.
