Former Governor Bank of Uganda, Gideon Nkojo, the owner of Junko Plaza which houses KCB in Kampala has died in a USA hospital.
Nkojo was Governor BoU during the reign of Godfrey Bikongwa Binaisa.
“He was an elderly man and has been ill for a long time. He has rested on Friday last week. He lived in the USA almost all his life,” a source told TheSpy Uganda reporter.
Gideon was son to the late Yosiya Nkojo, a former prime Minister in Tooro Kingdom. Gideon hardly lasted a year as Governor BoU, before he went back to his World Bank job.
It is said that the reason he didn’t last long on the job is because during his tenure, he resisted pressure to withdraw huge amounts of money and give it to some politicians at the time, whom he didn’t reveal at his exit amd decided to go back to USA and rejoin World Bank. How burial arrangements will be communicated in our next bulletin. RIP.
