Kampala: Sanyu FM Hot Mic Search yesterday unveiled one of its judges the senior journalist and popular entertainment judge Mr Ireland Chris.
Mr Chris will be joined by several other important personalities to choose the winner of the taalent search dubbed ‘Hot Mic Search’ which will end this Friday 24, 2020.
Chris Ireland shot into the spotlight as the very first presenter to come on air on the very first private FM radio station, Radio Sanyu, when it opened on Dec. 18, 1993 becoming the first FM radio station in Uganda.
Ireland later ventured into performing arts when he started a live band called Code 9 band. The band was a mainstay in Kampala’ nightlife regularly performing at several hang out spots in the city.
Ireland has also worked at different radio stations in Kampala. Therefore, his experience and capacity to make good judgement in regards to empowering Sanyu FM by recruiting the right young talent to take the station forward.
He has also worked as a brand ambassador for a variety of big brands in the country. This, also mean that he will together with the selected judges render his knowledge in branding Uganda’s oldest FM radio station.
Previously Mr Roger Mugisha the station Programs Director revealed that Judges had been reduced to 40% and told contestants to use their social media to generate more support from their fans something that would contribute 60%.
“Contestants will now be required to use their social media platforms to promote Sanyu FM, the number of likes contributes 60% of their total votes while 40% is from our judges” Mugisha said.
“With over 1300 entries, we are now down to the TOP 50. From this stage onwards we will select the top 20 and then final 10” he added.
The winner of ‘Hot mic search will take home cash prize worth Shs3 million as well as a presenter job with a two year contract offer.
