School Director Donates COVID-19 Relief Food To Over 500 Parents

Sheema: Over 500 parents with pupils studying at Rwebiita Preparatory Primary School, Ngoma, in Kagango Division, Sheema municipality, on Wednesday received relief food from the school’s management to help them and their families during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Associate Prof. Mesarch Katusiime Rwebiita, the School’s Managing Director said each parent/guardian with a child at the school was given 5Kgs of maize flour to help them feed their children during the lockdown.

He noted that the reason he decided to give back two tonnes of maize flour to the parents of his school is because most of them had already paid school fees to cater for their children at school before the lockdown, and that even if pupils had remained at school they would have consumed it all.

“Before the lockdown I had already stocked some bags of maize flour and beans. So I went to the bank and withdrew some money from the school account and  bought some more maize and added it with the rest which was in school stores and gave it to the parents,” Prof. Katusiime said.

“Let them go and feed our children because a healthy body is healthy mind,” he added.

Rakeeri Batunguuka, one of the parents with a grand son in P 2 thanked Prof. Katusiime and president Yoweri Museveni for standing with them during hard times, saying she didn’t have any money to buy even 1kg of maize flour by the time he came to her rescue.

The Sheema Resident District Commissioner, (RDC)Frank Kyereere, who distributed the food revealed that ever since he started receiving donations, Katusiime was the first School Head to give back to parents of his school.

He urged other school proprietors and other business owners to copy Katusiime’s gesture by giving back to their clients.
