Kampala: The National Council for Higher Education a semi-autonomous government regulatory agency, responsible for the regulation of higher education in Uganda has inspected and cleared leading private institution of learning Victoria University to re-open for students pursuing health-related programs following the presidential directive of reopening for candidates and finalists.

This has been revealed in a letter addressed to the institution by the NCHE Executive Director Prof Mary N. Okwakol, which reads; “Following the recent inspection of your institution by the team from National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) on 18th September 2020 to determine the level of readiness to re-open for the finalists undertaking Health-related training, I am pleased to inform you that your institution is considered ready for reopening.”

Professor Okwakol further revealed that the purpose of the letter was to inform Victoria University management that it was fully okayed to go ahead with programs of reopening for finalists undertaking health-related programs and a promised that soon a Certificate of Compliance would be availed to them once it is processed as one of the requirements set by the Ministry of Education for each institution of learning to be reopened.
The development comes months after the management of the University announced that it had rolled out an opportunity to enable students from Uganda, East Africa and other countries undertake their studies, without being impeded by the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As a way of encouraging more students to enrol and help parents to cope up with tuition amidst the COVID-19 crisis, the management announced a half bursary on tuition, such that students do not have to worry about university dues, but instead focus on their studies.
This was announced on Monday, August 3, 2020, by the proprietor of Victoria University Rajiv Ruparelia, who revealed that all Ugandans and everyone all over the world have a right to study despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 to the education system.
Victoria University Uganda (VUU), also known as Victoria University Kampala, is accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE). It offers short, professional, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
