A group of women activists and men mostly from Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) were on Tuesday arrested by Police at their Naguru Headquarters as they forced their way into the police offices to allegedly deliver their petition to IGP Martins Okoth Chola.

The women, led by FDC women leaders Stella Nyanzi and Sarah Eperu were protesting against rampant murders and Kidnaps of their fellow women, and that police was not doing enough to cab the vice.

Anti-riot and counter terrorism police were deployed at the main gate to stop the activists from entering Headquarters.

Some of the members like Sheila Mutambi, Habib Buwembo,David Musisi, Robert Kago, Derrick and Julious Kato who were carrying placards and coffin were arrested and whiskered to unknown place by press time.

Police deputy spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrests and said they were forced to arrest them because they had become violent after being told to vacate police premises.

“We told them that IGP was engaged in other important meetings but they chose to shout and defy lawful orders, that’s why we apprehended them” he said.
