State House Entebbe: Shocking secrets why President Yoweri Museveni furiously fired Judy Obitre Gama, the executive director National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) have been unearthed by our Spies.

Gama was fired in a letter written by President to the Internal Affairs Minister Gen. Jeje Odong, directing him to immediately source for her replacement as soon as her contract expires in July.

Gama, who has been at the helm of the Authority since 2015, will not have her contract renewed on the orders of President Museveni after it expires on July 15, 2020.

President Yoweri Museveni’s letter to Minister Gen. Jeje Odong

In the May 18, 2020 letter to Minister, Odong, Museveni directed that a new executive director, preferably one with legal and information technology background be identified to head the Authority.

President Museveni’s letter, which indicates that Gama was fired as a result of incompetence and lack of requisite qualifications for the job, reads in part thus; “I have been informed that the contract of the current executive director is due to expire.

Given the problems faced by NIRA especially relating to the issuance of national identity cards, there is need to identify a new executive director preferably with a legal or Information Technology background.

I am, therefore directing you to work with the Board of Directors of NIRA and identify a suitable candidate. Consult me, before a final decision is reached on the matter.”

It should however be noted that NIRA has in the past few years been identified as one of the most corrupt government agencies.

To date, because of the corruption at NIRA, several Ugandans have failed to secure national IDs and others been conned of their hard-earned money by some NIRA officials under the guise of helping them get their IDs using backdoor methods.
