Police in Kampala have arrested two workers for allegedly killing their boss, who had been bedridden for a long time.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire identified the deceased as Medi Kahuma, who was a resident of Ssendaula Zone in Ggaba, Makindye Division Kampala, where he had been under the care of a nurse and two caretakers.

Owoyesigire said that “Two workers have been arrested. We have also taken the body to Kampala Capital City Authority morgue for a postmortem as investigations go on.”

However by press time police were still hunting for the nurse who was looking after the late Kahuma.

Owoyesigire revealed to TheSpy Uganda that the nurse is still missing and her phones havr been switched off since Wednesday, something that is raising suspicion.

He however declined to divulge details of suspects in custody, saying it would jeopardize investigations.

Owoyesigire noted that Kahuma, who was suffering from tuberculosis, was murdered from his house and the caretakers allegedly run away with some of his properties that have not yet been clearly identified.

“The deceased was not staying with any of his relatives, but caretakers and a nurse. After his death, they made off with his motor vehicle, three mobile phones, jewelry and 60 pairs of shoes,” Owoyesigire said.

He added that one of the residents who had gone to check on Kahuma was the one who discovered his body immediately reported to police.

Investigations started and soon thereafter the Flying Squad Unit operatives recovered the deceased’s car abandoned several meters away from his home.

However, his SIM cards had been removed from the stolen phones. It is suspected that they had an unspecified amount of money on his Mobile Money account.

Owoyesigire revealed that the police are currently hunting for several other suspects, among then the nurse.
He said the scene of crime officers have also dusted fingerprints from the recovered vehicle, which they will use in the investigations.
