Shock As Suspect Hangs Self In Police Cells

Mukono: Police is investigating circumstances under which a suspect tried to end his life in Police cells.

The shocking incident happened at Seeta-Nazigo police station in Nakifuma Sub-County Mukono District, on Saturday, when Disan Nsubuga, who was arrested on Friday night on suspicion of being part of a criminal gang that raided several homes in Seeta-Nazigo, Katente, Byafula, Makata villages in Nakisunga Sub- County, tried to commit suicide.

Nsubuga tried to commit suicide using a shirt he tied around his neck and a metal bar on the window of the cell.

Police officers found him lying unconscious and thought he was dead. They notified his relatives and dumped the body in a police patrol to take it to Kawolo hospital mortuary. (Xanax)

However, cops were gripped with shock when Nsubuga started shaking, which prompting them to rush him to Kawolo hospital for treatment.

His father, William Ssekiduse, who had gone with a bed sheet to wrap the body in, was relieved when he heard that he was still alive.

Rogers Sseguya, the Mukono District Police Commander, said that “Nsubuga will be arraigned in court and charged with robbery and attempting to take his life.”

He added that they’re still tracking the suspect’s accomplices to face the law.

At least seven people have reported cases of theft at Seeta-Nazigo police station, which include the theft of two motorcycles and money.

Mubaraka Ssekikubo, the Nakisunga LC III Chairperson, said Nsubuga is implicated in several thefts that have occurred in the area in the recent past.
