Mukono: Traders and residents of Mukono town were engulfed with shock on Thursday afternoon after a man said to be working with power distributor Umeme got electrocuted to death on top of an electric pole.

Eyewitnesses reveal that the deceased, identified as Rashid Ssembajwe, had climbed the electric pole to reconnect a client, reportedly a trader in Mukono town, who had been switched off.

However, while attempting to fix the power, Ssembajwe ended up being electrocuted to death and his body entangled in electric cables.

A few moments later, eyewitnesses at the scene called the police and reported his death.

Shortly thereafter the police called qualified electricians who pulled Ssembajjwe’s body down from the pole and rushed him Mukono Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

However, neither the police, nor Umeme has issued a statement about Ssembajwe’s unfortunate demise yet.
Details coming in our subsequent reports.
