Kenyan giants AFC Leopards will face Ugandan side Express in an invitational friendly on August 16.

The pre-season friendly with the Red Eagles will be part of the opening ceremony of the newly refurbished Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo in Uganda.

Ahead of the clash, Ingwe, who are on a Western region tour, will battle Division Two side Bungoma Stars in a friendly at Mumias Sports Complex this evening before taking on Luanda Villa on Friday.

Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha will be seeking to gauge his players further in Uganda after playing to a barren draw with Talanta FC at the back of a 3-1 loss to another FKF Premier league side, Murang’a Seal in Nairobi.

Club Secretary General, Gilbert Andugu said they have signed South Sudan captain Peter Maker and left back Simon Semo from Muranga Seal to beef up their rare guard.

However, Tanzanian midfielder Christian Zigha and Ugandan midfielder Hussein Senoga didn’t impress after training with Ingwe for almost a week. Team manager, Benard Mangoli, said the team is in good shape at their Mumias training camp with no new injuries.

After acquiring Maker, formerly of Zesco United,  Ingwe will be chasing a number 10 and a youthful fourth-choice goalkeeper to play as an understudy to Levis Opiyo after Humphrey Katasi left.

After the Kampala friendly against Express, Leopards will shift focus to the season opener against Mathare United on August 24 at Dandora Stadium. Ingwe will be chasing their first title since 1998, after finishing fifth in the 2023-2024 season.
