Kampala: Joel Ssenyonyi, who recently resigned from NTV where he was a news anchor and political show host, has been appointed the People Power spokesperson.
Ssenyonyi was announced this morning at a meeting that was held at People Power offices in Kamwokya, Kampala, which was chaired by MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and MP Francis Zaake Butebi. We have learnt that by virtue of his appointment, Ssenyonyi shall also become Bobi Wine’s official spokesperson. Ssenyonyi resigned his TV job a few days ago and announced that he is set to join elective politics come 2021, so he wants to use this time to garner for support by doing grass root campaigns.
Ssenyonyi has been involved in People Power activities for a long time and was even among the leaders of the social media tax protests in Kampala last year. However, sources reveal that prior to his resignation, Ssenyonyi was one of the several journalists that the Uganda Communications Commission wanted to be fired from NTV, for allegedly breaching minimum broadcasting standards.
