Harriet Komuhimbo, a State House aide, has been cleared of all charges after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) dropped the allegations of trespass that were brought against her by Nigerian national Augustine Onwunche Nnamdi. The incident had occurred in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja, in Rubaga Division.

In a formal withdrawal document signed by DPP Justice Jane Frances Abodo, the charges against Komuhimbo and two others were officially discontinued. “This is to inform the Court that the DPP has decided to discontinue proceedings against Komuhimbo Harriet, Ahabwe Reagan (No. 55459), and Magezi Norman, charged with trespass under Section 302(a) of the Penal Code Act,” the withdrawal form states.

The document was also sent to the Mwanga II Court’s Resident State Attorney and the Kampala South Regional CID Officer.

Nnamdi, through his legal representatives, M/S Deric Advocates and Solicitors, formally requested the DPP to drop the charges against the accused individuals.

“Our client avers and contends that he has withdrawn interest in the case and has no desire to pursue any further prosecution of the matter. Based on this, we humbly request that the case be withdrawn against the accused persons,” reads part of the letter.

Komuhimbo, 39, and Ahabwe, 31, had been charged with trespass after an incident on November 16, 2023, when they were allegedly involved in a raid at Nnamdi’s residence in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja. They were arraigned before Magistrate Adams Byarugaba at the Mwanga II Road Court on November 24, 2023, and faced trespassing charges under Section 2 of the Penal Code Act.

A court order signed by Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byaruhanga confirmed the withdrawal of charges.

“It is hereby ordered that the case against the three accused persons be withdrawn as per the DPP’s request,” the court order reads.
