Entebbe: Last night, State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) conducted an operation at Entebbe airport following a whistleblower’s complaint that led to the arrest of immigration officers; Caroline Kabugo (shift supervisor),Martha Mboneko (immigration officer) and Julius Musalwa (immigration officer).
According to the Unit, “the three allegedly abused their office when they caused a refugee and her two children to miss their flight purporting that she had forged clearance documents from the office of the Prime Minister to the contrary.”
The traveller has since incurred extra costs in excess of $1800 for purchase of fresh tickets and caused distress to the family. This attracts disrepute not only to the government, but also the immigration department.
“It is further alleged that her luggage was tampered with and items stolen. Investigations are being carried out,” says the Unit.
