State House Anti Corruption Unit Arrests Jinja Education Boss Over Abuse Of Office

By Spy Uganda

Tuesday afternoon, the State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) together with Uganda police arraigned Mutesi Amina, the Principal Education Officer in Jinja City before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of Office and remanded.

She joins her co-accused Mulopa Haruna, Education Officer and Ngobi Samuel, Assistant Sports Officer who were earlier charged.

The Unit says Mutesi abused her authority by irregularly ordering head teachers of several government-aided schools in Jinja, to divert UPE capitation grants that had been sent to their schools by the government to other activities within the city, an act that contravenes with the UPE Guidelines and Regulations for handling public funds.

Launched on 10th December 2018, SH-ACU coordinates with all constitutionally mandated agencies to ensure a corruption-free country.

The Unit also acts as a link between H.E. the President, citizens, and anti-corruption agencies in relation to Anti-Corruption issues.
