This afternoon, a significant legal development took place at the Koboko Chief Magistrates Court, as Adokorach Gloria, a medical radiographer employed at Yumbe Referral Hospital, faced charges of obtaining money by false pretence and neglect of duty. The case was brought forward by a joint effort from State House Anti Corruption Unit and Uganda Police.

According to the Unit, Adokorach Gloria’s alleged misconduct spans several years. Initially hired as a midwife by Koboko General Hospital in 2013, she went on study leave shortly after her appointment. However, upon her return in 2018, she failed to report back to her duties. Despite abandoning her position, Gloria continued to receive a salary from the Koboko Local Government for a role she no longer fulfilled. This unauthorized salary payment has resulted in a significant financial loss to the government, amounting to over UGX 40 million.
”The actions of Adokorach Gloria are being closely scrutinized, as they highlight serious issues of financial mismanagement and abuse within the healthcare system,” says the Unit adding that the case is set to continue, and the accused has been remanded in custody until the next court hearing scheduled for March 13, 2025.
