Kampala: State House Anti-Corruption Unit detectives have arrested two police officers from Mukono Central Police Station over bribery-TheSpy Uganda has learnt.

According to our sources, the duo’s arrest came after they attempted to solicit a bribe of UGX500,000 and we have since learnt that the investigations into this matter have kicked off.
Those arrested are; AIP Alex Olega and Sgt Ajuna Mandera.

Uganda’s corruption and bribery is something the government is fighting to end. In 2019, the Transparency International corruption perception index ranked Uganda at 137th out of 180 countries.

The above report revealed that in the region, Rwanda remains the least corrupt country in position 51 after scoring 53% followed by Tanzania in the 96th position with a score of 37 while Kenya and Uganda are tied together.

In general, according to the report, Sub-Saharan Africa ranks as the lowest-scoring region on Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), with an average score of 32.
