State House Anti-Corruption Unit Head Brig Gen Isoke Holds Meeting With Lands Ministry Officials, Local Leaders To Resolve Land Matters In Lira District

Kampala: The Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Brig Gen Henry Isoke has today held a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Lands, Lira District CAO, Lira City Town Clerk and representatives from Lira District and City Land Boards.

According to Brig Gen Isoke, the purpose of the meeting was to share findings and give feedback on the various investigations into land matters in Lira District. During the meeting, Brig Isoke handed back to the Boards, files retrieved in the course of investigations.

It is worth noting that House Anti Corruption Unit in liaison with Uganda Police have arrested and arraigned at Anti-Corruption Court several Lira District officials on Charges of Abuse of Office, Fraudulent Procurement of titles & Conspiracy to defraud that have marred the district in the recent years.

Some of the officials who were arrested in January this year including, Opio Francis and Atoo Rebecca both land surveyors for allegedly selling govt land to business man Okodo Peter.

The above officials were allegedly assisted by the Natural Resources Officer, Otike Pabious and the Lira MZO Cartographer Ogwang Joel among other  land scandals that the unit is working tooth and nail to resolve.

The State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) in one year, 2022, managed to recover Ugx35.484bn from corruption masters of this country, annual report revealed.

The Unit also managed to arrest and arraign in court over 448 suspects. Among these, courts convicted 70 culprits including government accounting Officers, Executive Officers, managing directors, Secretaries of Commission, CAOs, and Town Clerks.

SH-ACU was established under Article 99(4) of the constitution of Uganda, which gives the President executive powers to either directly or indirectly perform his duties or through officers subordinate to him.

Launched on 10th December 2018, SH-ACU coordinates with all constitutionally mandated agencies to ensure corruption free country.

The Unit also acts as a link between H.E. the President, citizens, and Anti- Corruption agencies in relation to Anti-Corruption issues.
