Supreme Court Justice Tsekooko Kicks Bucket At Norvik Hospital

By Ronald Nahabwe

Grief and agony have engulfed the Judiciary after former Supreme Court judge, Justice Wilson Tsekooko kicked the bucket at Norvik hospital on Monday afternoon.

Information coming from the ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Judicial Service Commission, and the Uganda Law Council confirms that his Lordship Tsekooko  had been battling ill health since the beginning of October, reason why family members had decided to take him to Norvik Hospital for special medical attention.

“When he was admitted, after receiving treatment he showed a lot of improvement and we had expected him to go back home soon, but unfortunately God called him today,” a family source who preferred anonymity eulogized the deceased.

Chief Justice Bart Katureebe also eulogize his learned comrade Justice Tsekooko by saying he was one of the pillars of democratic governance, rule of law and defender of human rights.

Justice Tsekooko served at Supreme Court for more than 15 years; two years at Court of Appeal and five years  at High Court.

In 2001 and 2006, Justice Tsekooko was among the minority judges that allowed Besigye’s petition (annulled the President-Elect’s victory) and called for fresh elections.

The same Justice Tsekoooko was President Milton Obote’s personal attorney in a defamation case the then presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni had filed against Obote.

Preparations for his burial will be communicated soon after the family and Judicial Service Commission release the arrangements.
