Kampala: For a couple of days, netizens have witnessed a viral job advert purported to be from Uganda airlines ‘announcing’ several job opportunities following the suspension of a section of carrier’s staff by President Museveni in May, 2021.
Museveni fired Airline’s top management led by CEO-Muleya Cornwell, Senior Administration Manager-Andrew Tumusiime, among others over corruption, nepotism and appointed Ms.Jennifer Bamuturaki as Ag CEO, whom the then CEO Muleya had fired after her six months probation period claiming she couldn’t match with his ‘brilliant’ team he wanted to assemble to run business at the airport.
Back to controversial job advert, TheSpy Uganda has since established that the Airline has not announced any job opportunities and therefore the one trending on social media platforms is fake.
”That’s fake, and we are trying to find out who could be behind all this because it is misleading the public and i think it is all intended to spoil the image of the Airline,” said one of the Airline’s officials who preferred anonymity when contacted by our investigative reporter.
In the same vein, another insider, who took charge from the suspended team revealed that the advert was generated by the suspended team in a bid to tarnish the image of the current leadership.
“It’s fake, I think it’s being generated by the HR department that is on suspension with intent either to defraud the unsuspecting public of their money by buying the so called jobs or discrediting the team that remained behind as they serve their suspension,” another insider at Entebbe airport who preferred anonymity told our reporter on phone.
Sources further allege that this fake advert was initiated by suspended HR members who were part of the HR Department.
”This is an outsourcing call for applications at Uganda Airlines the National Carrier of the Republic of Uganda based at Entebbe International Airport. We are now accepting applications for a number of job opportunities and if you feel eligible to be part of our company, apply by; Sending your curriculum vitae and application to this email – the human resource department will get back to you via the same email for further communication,” partially reads the fake advert.
Source further notes that on top of tarnishing the image of Airline’s current leadership, this frustrated team could be also targeting to fraudulently collect money from unemployed Ugandans in exchange for jobs.
”These guys are not a joking subject when it comes to money, and that’s why they were suspended, they can do anything for money,” added a source.
Among the jobs the fake advert announced include, specialized experience in flight operations, cabin operations, engineering, ground handling, sales and marketing, revenue management, finance, human resources, safety and security, and other aviation related disciplines.
