United Kingdom (UK) based Lyca Telecom, which recently partnered with Tangerine Telecom in Uganda, has promised to revolutionize communication in Uganda by first of all leading in giving Ugandans the most ever cheapest data and calling rates in the country.
This comes after the company introduced new ‘crazy’ data and call rates on Monday morning that could see its customers save up to about 70% from their previous spending,a thing that surprised its clients across the spectrum.
Without making any noise, Lyca Mobile customers simply woke up on Monday only to realize that their Data plans had been trippled and automatically upgraded to a whole new bigger and better system!
“I woke up in the morning and realized my internet speed had improved and had more Data than earlier paid for, when I called customer care, they surprised me when they said they had upgraded from the old system to a new one that would enable me among other offers have 20GB at shs10,000 per month as opposed to the old plan where at Shs50,000 I would have only 15GB for a month!
In other words, now for a full month I can use shs10,000 and save shs40,000 per month!,” an excited customer whom we interviewed along Garden City, told this reporter.
Lyca Mobile on Monday unveiled a whole new rate card for all its services that have been tripled for the benefit of its clients. Read the new chart below:

Via a Whatsapp interview with this reporter, the company’s CEO Mr.Vinay Alapati revealed that appart from the revised rates, after completing all Gov’t and inter-connetion obligations with the already established telecoms as per the new policy governing the Industry, they were now ready to cover the entire country with clear and clean voice call, Data and sms services as soon as the Codiv19 lock down is lifted.
“It’s good that the new policy emphasizes sharing of already established infrastructure, there’s no point in putting up 10 masts in a particular geographical area, now you have to use the already built networks. With this already in place by pioneer companies, it has helped us to roll over the entire country fast. And as soon as this lockdown is lifted, our clients will be able to access our services countrywide. We promise bigger and better products ranging from rates to clear voice calls and all that,” he said.
Vinay also revealed that Lyca mobile customers can now buy Data and airtime via MTN and Airtel mobile money accounts as opposed to previously when one had to only look for pay way machines or walk to the office to be reloaded.
“Now you can even use your MTN or Airtel mobile money accounts to renew your Data plan, voice calls etc. This is an addition to the already existing platforms like Payway and front desk systems,” Vinay added.
Customers who spend from shs25,000 and above at ago will have their OTT plan paid by the company with absolutely no other additional charges.
Lycamobile operates in 24 world countries with over 15 million active customers, according to the information on their website.
